How to Select Warehouse Lighting?

by NioJaydon 28 Jun 2025
  1. Check for Complete Certifications
LED high bay lights (fixed lighting) must have ETL/FCC/RoHS certifications, while explosion-proof lights require IP65 explosion-proof certification.
  2. Verify Compliance with Enterprise Standards
Ensure compliance with UL safety standards, EPCA energy efficiency regulations, and RoHS certification for hazardous substance restrictions.
  3. Assess Material Quality and Lampshade Thickness
  • Evaluate the sufficiency of aluminum material, especially for explosion-proof lights, which have specific requirements for aluminum and glass thickness. Sufficient materials and reasonable design reduce light decay.
  • Die-cast aluminum is preferred over profile aluminum, which is better than fin-type heat dissipation.
  1. Confirm Heat Dissipation Materials
Mostly aluminum-based; graphene materials may be used, but prices vary significantly.
  2. Test Power Output
Check for rated wattage consistency, as some low-end products may gradually reduce power after startup.
  3. Measure Power Factor
High-quality products typically have a power factor >0.95, while low-end ones may have a factor as low as 0.5.
  4. Verify Power Supply Brands
  • Leading brands: Philips, Mean Well, Moso, Inventronics, Sungrow (common with full-aluminum power supplies, with price differences between isolated and non-isolated types).
  • Small-power products may use Philips indoor power supplies (price variations apply).
  • Other reliable brands: Ledford, Xinchuang, Dongling, Zhihe, Nate.
  • Low-end products often use unencapsulated bare-board power supplies with linear ACDOB solutions (high-voltage non-isolated bare-board designs).
  1. Aluminum Substrate Surge Resistance
Opt for a surge withstand voltage of 2.5KV; low-end products may have <1KV.
  2. Lamp Grounding
Some low-end products lack grounding, posing a safety hazard.
  3. Confirm LED Bead Brands
Common brands: Philips, Osram, Epistar. Beware of manufacturers substituting non-branded beads, which may cause significant price differences.
  4. Measure Brightness
  • Use a lux meter to take average readings at multiple points (some manufacturers manipulate angles to enhance brightness directly under the lamp while reducing average illuminance).
  1. Check Packaging
Regular manufacturers provide complete documentation, including certificates of conformity and user manuals.
  2. Evaluate Luminous Efficacy
Higher efficacy means better energy efficiency. For the same brightness, choose lower-power options; recommend efficacy ≥130lm/W.
  3. Inspect Lenses
Lensed lights do not require additional lampshades.
  4. Assess After-Sales Service
Verify if a 5-year warranty is offered, including repair and replacement services.
  5. Confirm Delivery Time
Ensure the supplier can meet specified shipping and delivery schedules.
